Nam Blazers End First Round on High

Nam Blazers managed to overcome Our Saviour in their last game of the first round of the National Basketball League.

The Blazers won 66-53 in a closely contested game at Indoor Arena in Lugogo.

The Blazers led 31-26 at halftime and later opened up a 16-point lead midway through the Third Quarter.

But Our Saviour threaded a 14-0 run to cut the deficit by two points at the end of the quarter.

The Blazers regrouped in the fourth quarter, limiting Our Saviour to just eight points from thereafter to win 66-53.

Michael Makiadi finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds while Chris Omanye and Peter Cheng added 16 and 11 points respectively for the Blazers.

Kenneth Mesho, with 10 points, was the only Our Saviour player to score in double digits.

Our Saviour were out-rebounded 43-52 and missed 19 of their 20 three point attempts to end the first round on a 6-5 record.

The Blazers on the other hand, finish the first round in third place with eight wins and three losses.

The NBL Second round is tentatively set to tip off on June 16.
