Kwibuka T20: Victoria Pearls Ease Past Rwanda

Evelyn Anyipo produced a masterclass performance as the Victoria Pearls beat hosts Rwanda by 7 wickets to secure their second win at the Kwibuka Women’s T20 tournament.

The pace bowler was on a class of her own, plucking four wickets while conceding just one run. She bowled three maidens as Uganda restricted the hosts to 80 runs enroute to their second win.

Stephanie Nampiina conceded 20 runs, but she was also in the business of picking wickets. She had 3 to her name as Uganda cruised past Rwanda.

It was an easy chase for the team as they needed just 18 Overs to achieve the target. The bat was manned by the openings pair of Kevin Awino and Janet Mbabazi. Mbabazi was an unusual opener, and both her and Awino scored 34 runs each.

Proscovia Alako who has been struggling with runs was dropped down the order. She did not get the chance to bat as Uganda used only four batters.

Lorna Anyait debuted for the team, and was given four complete Overs to bowl. The Olila prodigy became the second player to debut for the Victoria Pearls in a space of 24hours after Malisa Ariokot received her debut on Saturday.

Uganda remain top of the five nation group in Rwanda. The side will play Nigeria on Monday.
