Kwibuka T20: Another routine for Victoria Pearls

The Victoria Pearls were involved in yet another unlabored performance as they eased past Rwanda at the Kwibuka Women’s T20 tournament on Thursday.

The Pearls beat the hosts by 10 wickets to remain with their unblemished run at the annual competition, with the team captain Consy Aweko leading from the front.

After winning the toss, and sending Rwanda to bat first, the skipper led the wicket taking. She claimed three as Uganda bowled out Rwanda in the 13th Over with a paltry 32 runs. The skipper gave out only two runs, and bowled two maidens.

Evelyn Anyipo with 2, Irene Alumo and Phionah Kulume each with one registered their names in the wicket column.

It was an easy assignment for Ugandan batters, and Janet Mbabazi needed little assistance in completing it. Mbabazi once again opened with Kevin Awino, and she scored 20 that included three 4s.

Mbabazi’s total added to Awino’s 5 plus the seven extras Rwanda gave out ensured Uganda chased the target in Powerplay.

Uganda will return to action tomorrow against Nigeria.
