FUFA Drum: Defending Champions West Nile pitted in group C

The 2023 FUFA Drum tournament draws have been held on Tuesday 13th June at FUFA complex in Mengo with the defending champions West Nile pitted in group C.

West Nile are in line to face one of the stubborn teams in the tournament the Karamoja region which they find a hard time when playing them in Karamoja.

According to the FUFA Drum Chairman Rogers Byamukama has highlighted in how the tournament has expanded with the increase of the games from 36 to 48 games which will be aired live on FUFA TV.

“It’s a very beautiful morning once again the long awaited FUFA Drum tournament finally gets underway. I would like to thank our partners as this is the very first time we are having such a huge number of sponsors coming on board. This time round the tournament will have an increase in the number of games played as they will increase from 36 to 48 games with the introduction of a new playing format.” 

The new format will see the top eight teams that qualified to last year’s quarterfinals receive a bye to the next round as they will be pitted direct in the group stages with the last eight teams playing a knock out round on home and away basis for a slot in the group stages 

The four groups will have three teams playing on a home and away basis with the top two teams qualifying to the quarterfinal round.

The tournament kickoff dates will be announced soon with  it is slated to place between the 27th June to 17th December.
