Saturday, June 17
Eagles 13 – 00 Warriors

Eagles RFC emerged triumphant with a resounding 13-0 victory over Warriors in the URU Championship final played at Legends Rugby Grounds on Saturday 17th June, 2023.

With this victory, they secured their qualification to the Nile Special Rugby Premier League in the 2024 season.

The first half saw a tight contest between the two sides but Eagles were able to take the lead in the 35th minute, courtesy of a try by Reagan Kitara.

Kitara’s try would send the game into a half time break with the scoreboard pinned 7-0 in favour of the Kitante based side.

In the second half, the champions sought to consolidate their lead and seal their place in the premiership league.

Keith Mugisha, the Eagles’ fly-half, stepped forward to take charge, he successfully converted a penalty kick in the third quarter of the game, adding three more points to the team’s tally.

The flyhalf’s contribution did not end there as he delivered a remarkable drop goal ten minutes to stoppage time, extending the Eagles lead to an insurmountable 13 points.

The Warriors, who were fervently vying for a return to the top-tier league were left frustrated as they failed to register any points throughout the match.

With no doubt, the missed opportunity to secure promotion will haunt them as they have been forced to wait out another season for a chance at redemption.

For Eagles, the stage is now set for their remarkable journey into the elite realms of rugby in the upcoming season.
