Sebastien Desabre’s DR Congo revealed more work to Coach Micho’s Uganda Cranes in an international Friendly.

The Cranes lost 1-0 in a game played at Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon.

Theo Bongoda scored from the spot in the 26th minute for the game’s only goal, after an handball by Halid Lwaliwa.

And Cranes couldn’t find a way back even with numerous substitutions made in the second half.

Milton Karisa, Moses Waiswa, Travis Mutyaba, Richard Basangwa and Siraje Sentamu all came in off the bench.

“We started on a wrong foot. I believe the penalty was not supposed to be there having in mind that the player was falling down and he couldn’t control his movement while going down. It has been decided so I have nothing to complain about that,” Micho said.

“We had the biggest chance of first half from the corner kick that had come. We conceded from a penalty. In the second half we were changing the approach understanding that the opponent is building with a box of two defenders and two defensive midfielders and are putting fullbacks high up the field.

“So, we decided to put players that could exactly hold the ball better like Basangwa. We created unbelievable chances however, we didn’t convert.”

The game saw a minute of silence observed just before kick off in remembrance of the fallen former Cranes midfielder Willy Kyambadde who passed on recently.

Coach Micho will hope to correct mistakes from the friendly ahead of Sunday’s AFCON Qualifier against Algeria.
