Cricket Cranes Overcome Kenya To Win Continental T20 Cup

Kenya – 124/7 (20 ov)
*Uganda won by 1 run

Uganda held their nerves to beat Kenya in a thrilling final of the Continent Cup T20-Africa tournament at the Gymkhana Club Ground, Nairobi.

It was a brilliant fight for the Cricket Cranes with the ball against Kenya who needed 126 to win.

But Uganda defended what looked like an abysmal score, before winning a nail-bitter by just one run!

Kenya needed nine off the last Over to win, but All-rounder Riazat Ali Shah managed to carry Uganda over the finishing line.

His first ball took out Kenyan Captain Shem Ngoche who was caught by his opposite Brian Masaba.

And fast forward, the tournament had to be decided off the last ball where Kenya needed a four to win.

But Lucas Oluoch couldn’t find a needed boundary, with a two proving not enough as Kenya finally chocked.

After winning the toss, captain Masaba opted to bat first, a choice that but backfired after an early crumble when the team lost five wickets for just four runs!

Simon Ssesazi and Riazat fell for ducks while Robinson Obuya (3) and Kenneth Waiswa (1) all gave away their wickets cheaply to leave the Cranes reeling.

But player-of-the-match Dinesh Nakrani hit 42 runs off 31 balls as Uganda recovered from 4/5 to 98/7.

Pascal Murungi added 31 down the stretch as Uganda managed to save face by finishing their Overs, with the scoreboard reading 125.

And the Boys did a wonderful job in the field, with Ali Shah and Kenneth Waiswa picking a brace while Dinesh Nakrani, Henry Ssenyondo and Frank Nsubuga had a wicket each.
