Cricket Cranes: Masaba Confident Despite Defeat Against Kenya

Brian Masaba, captain of the cricket Cranes, applauded his teammates’ for their display against Kenya, despite their loss to the side on Saturday.

The Cricket Cranes faced Kenya in their second game of the Continental Cup T20-Africa hoping to continue with their recent good run against their rivals, but Laurence Mahatlane’s team lost the game by 88 runs after failing to chase down the 185 runs that Kenya had set.

Kenyan veteran Collins Obuya knocked 96 of those, with Dinesh Nakrani (32), Riazat Ali Shah (51) and Bilal Hassan (44) all conceding runs above 30. But in spite of those figures, Masaba insisted his bowlers did a good job.

“Credit to Kenya, I thought they did really well, they executed, but I’d like to credit my bowlers as well. At one point it looked like they (Kenya) will get more than 200, but they (bowlers) bounced really strongly.”

Uganda will play Rwanda tomorrow, and they will look to bounce back from that defeat. Masaba says the team does not intend on altering their strategy.

“I don’t think we need to change much. Things worked out for us against Botswana, they didn’t today. That’s the way the game goes sometimes. So tomorrow again, we will come out and stay positive.

“We’ll ask the guys to go out there execute their skills, express themselves, and try to score as many runs as possible.”
