Amaniyo, Aber To Join Gazelles 3×3 Team in Tunisia after Age Confusion

FUBA is putting Mary Amaniyo (KIU Rangers) and Bridget Aber (UCU) on plane this Monday to join the Gazelles 3×3 team in Tunisia.

The Gazelles team of four players – Shakira Nanvubya, Leticia Awor, Hope Akello and Agatha Kamwanda, left last week for the Beach Games.

But after the Technical meeting, FUBA in a statement said that they were told that the 3×3 tournament was instead an Under-23 category.

However, two of the players Akello and Awor do not qualify to play as they are already above 23 years of age.

“After a series of consultations with the organizers of the games, we were given a green light to have the two players
(ineligible) replaced,” FUBA confirmed on Sunday in a statement.

“They will be replaced by Mary Moses Amaniyo and Bridget Aber who will travel to Tunisia on Monday June 26, 2023 in time before the games kick off in Hammamet.”

The statement adds that Hope Akello and Leticia Awor are returning to the country.
