Weatherhead Maintain Top Spot

The trio of Moses Tushabe, Thomas Opio and Collin Batusa each scored a brace as Weatherhead thumped Thunders 6-1 to remain on top of the table in the National Hockey League.

The first quarter ended with Thunders trailing by one goal courtesy of Tushabe, but the damage for the side was witnessed in the second quarter that saw Steven Jjuuko’s team score three unanswered goals. Opio’s brace arrived in this quarter, and so did Batusa’s first goal.

The table leaders went on to bag more two, with Tushabe and Batusa completing their braces. Mushraf Mugisha scored a consolation for his team in the third quarter.

Weatherhead’s title rival Wananchi needed a last quarter goal from Jordan Achaye to edge Rockets 2-1 on Sunday. Rockets took the lead through Frank Wambalya, but James Larombi initiated the comeback that Achaye completed.

Kampala Hockey Club drew 1-1 with City Lions while their sister club KHC Originals drew 2-2 against Badgers. Makerere Stingers thrashed Weatherhead Titans 8-2.

Weatherhead remain top of the table after this round of play, but only on goal difference as Wananchi are level on points with them (19).

Rockets stay third despite the defeat, and Titans who have lost all their games this season stay bottom with zero point.
