USSSA Rugby: Kings College Budo Champions

Sunday, May 14

*Final: Kings College Budo 23-21 Namilyango College
*Third place playoff: SMACK 27- 17 MACOS

Kings College Budo exacted revenge against the defending champions Namilyango College to claim the 2023 USSSA Rugby title in a narrow 23-21 victory.

The showdown between the two schools was a replay of the 2022 campaign final in Gulu where Namilyango edged out Budo 15-9 to clinch the trophy in the previous year.

The latter came into this year’s final to avenge the loss and to their fortunes, they achieved just that.

Brain Makalama’s side were able to finally get themselves silverware this year having fallen short in the central school’s league earlier.

In the third playoff, SMACK were able to overcome a resilient MACOS side in the extra time to secure a 27-17 victory and book themselves a spot in the Federation of East African Secondary School Sports Associations (FEASSSA) rugby games 2023.

The FEASSSA games bring together all secondary schools in East Africa that have bested their counterparts in their particular East African countries.

The 2023 FEASSSA games are scheduled for later this year, August and will be played in Huye, Rwanda.
