UCU Canons Seek To End KIU Titans Strong Run

•KIU Titans Vs UCU Canons, 9pm

UCU Canons will be hoping to end KIU Titans’ winning stream when the two giants face off in the National Basketball League this Friday at YMCA court in Wandegeya.

The Titans have won eight games in a row since their opening league defeat against City Oilers.

It has been an impressive run, majorly highlighted by a 74-69 victory over rivals Nam Blazers.

But in UCU Canons, the Titans will be facing their hugest stumbling block to date.

The Canons started the season wobbling, and lost against City Oilers and Ndejje University.

But since their third loss of the season, against UPDF Tomahawks, they have won five on a trot.

And coach Nicholas Natuhereza will be hoping that his side has turned the corner.

Peter Sifuma is UCU’s pillar, averaging a double double of 10 points and 11 rebounds, but Jimmy Otim (15) and Jerry Kayanga (12) are also averaging double digits in scoring.

Ibanda Lwabaga, averaging nine points and five rebounds, has been brilliant for the Canons whose Achilles hill is the lack of quality in their depth.

This, promises to be a thrilling encounter of good basketball, but the Canons will be more confident having beaten KIU twice last year in the regular season 74-66 and 82-55.

In the Women’s fixture, UCU Lady Canons will be going for their seventh win when they take on Arnold Katabi’s Miracle Eaglets who have won three and lost as many this season.
