UCA Women T20: Aziz Damani, Soroti City Meet in Jinja

Defending champions Aziz Damani and Soroti City will both travel to Jinja for a top of the table clash in the National T20 Women’s League on Saturday.

Both sides come into this game with a clean bill; and level on points, both with eight – but with a superior net run rate, Damani top the table standings.

Yusuf Nanga’s troops however, have played only two games. They won what would’ve been their season opening double header by forfeit after Tornado Bee failed to honor the fixture.

Soroti City meanwhile won all their opening four games convincingly, but they have not taken to the field since mid April.

Soroti who harbours national team players such as Kevin Awino, Janet Mbabazi, Irene Alumo, Phionah Kulume, Evelyn Anyipo and Sarah Akiteng beat both Olila High School and Wanderers at the start of the campaign, and they will look to continue with their perfect start against Damani in what promises to be a nerve-racking encounter.

Damani have in their armory Proscovia Alako, Consy Aweko, Immaculate Nakisuyi, Gloria Obukor, Patricia Malemekia, all national team players. They will also head into this one looking to maintain their status quo.

They battered Pioneer in their double header last weekend so they will be gunning for victory against what’s considered their only competition this term.

In the other league game in the women’s division, Jinja SS will take on Wanderers at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

It will be the first time the students will be involved in league action this term, but it will be Wanderers’s fifth and sixth game.

Wanderers lost all their four games games, with their most recent defeats coming against Olila last Saturday.

They will look to get off the mark on Saturday while Jinja SS will seek to start their season on a high.
