Ticket To Rugby Premier League Up For Grabs

The race to qualify for the prestigious Nile Special Rugby Premier League is heating up as eight regional teams gear up for the upcoming playoffs.

The teams, which comprise the champions and runners-up from each regional league, will compete in a knockout format to determine which team will earn the coveted promotion to the top tier of Uganda’s rugby.

The games will kick off with the quarter-finals on 20th May 2023, with two games to be played in Entebbe and two others in Makerere.

The semi-finals will be played at Damwaters in Jinja on 27th May, 2023, while the finals will be held on 3rd June, 2023, at Legends rugby grounds.

Northern champions Gulu City Falcons, along with their runners-up Lira Big Boys, will be representing the region in the playoffs.

The Western region will be represented by the champions Tooro Lions and runners-up Mbarara Titans, while the Central region will be represented by champions Eagles and runners-up Warriors.

From the East, champions Elgon Wolves and runners up-Njeru Hurricanes, will also be vying for a spot in the rugby league.

The team that emerges victorious in the final will earn the right to compete in the rugby league for the 2024 season.

Rams were relegated from the Rugby Premier League this season with a game to spare.

▪️ 4:00pm- Kitante Eagles Vs Lira Big Boys

ENTEBBE:

▪️ 2:00pm- Elgon Wolves Vs Mbarara Titans

▪️ 4:00pm- Tooro Lions Vs Warriors
