Startimes UPL: SC Villa title hopes dented by resilient Maroons on Luzira

Maroons 1-0 SC Villa – Prison Grounds, Luzira.

Arua hills 4-1 Express FC – Barifa Stadium.

Blacks Power 1-1 URA FC – Akibua Memorial Stadium.

Maroons FC stepped in SC Villa’s hopes of winning the title of 2022/2023 as they defeated them 1-0 at Prisons Grounds thanks to Ronald Orombi’s lonely strike.

Maroons had come into the game having forced the other three top teams to drop points, they had drew with both KCCA and Vipers SC and they defeated URA.

Maroons captain Ronald Orombi fired home in the 31st minute as he was well set by Deogratious Ojok.

SC Villa tried to hunt for an equaliser in all Corners but were denied by goalkeeper Tamale who was even named man of the match.

Forward Charles Bbaale, Ivan Bogere, Travis Mutyaba all came close but we’re denied by the custodian who had a very good day.

The results means SC Villa have now lost 3 in their last 4 games freezing their chances of winning the title of Uganda Premier League.

In other interesting game, Arua hills comfortably defeated Express 4-1 to maintain a place in top four.

SC Villa remained on top with 46 points from 25 games while Maroons moved to 5th place on 36 points from 24 games.

SC Villa will next host Blacks Power on Tuesday 9th May while on the same date Maroons will visit Gaddafi.
