Stanbic Uganda Cup: Can the Venoms survive the Stars test to set eyes on the double?

Friday 19th May

Vipers Vs Bright Stars – St. Mary’s stadium Kitende

The Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinals game two will see the Kitende based side Vipers fancy their chances of thinking about a seasons double as they face stubborn Bright Stars in the first leg at Kavumba recreation playgrounds.

Vipers who sit top of the Uganda Premier League table are eager to set their eyes on their first ever Ugandan Football double but they face Bright Stars a side they have failed to pick maximum points from in both of the games played in the league.

Both sides opened up the league in a goalless draw at Kitende and later Bright Stars won by a 1-0 score in the return leg at Kavumba recreation playgrounds.

The Venoms head coach Alex Isabirye is eager to help his side clinch the Uganda Cup trophy which he won last season with BUL FC but he will have to deal with Bright Stars in the Semis.

Isabirye is aware of the dangers which Bright Stars can cause to them as they lost their second round league game at Kavumba by a 1-0 score but he remains confident of a positive result.

“It’s going to be a very difficult game as we are playing one of the most organised teams in the league, we lost to Bright Stars a few weeks back at their home, I know they are going to come all out to fight for a positive result but our target is to win the game and see that we can progress to the next round.”

“We as Vipers are in a good shape to fight for maximum points but as you know in the semifinals you play home and away and we play at home first were we need to play comfortably and see that we can get a positive result which can help us knock out Bright Stars”. Siad Alex Isabirye

Bright Stars head coach Asaf Mwebaze is eager to fight for a positive result as he targets to eliminate Vipers out of the Uganda Cup

“We face Vipers who we very well know are a strong side as they are the holders of the Uganda Premier League and they have vast experience in Uganda Cup as they have so far won it, We target a positive result away from and that will be very key if we are to eliminate them in the second leg match at home.” Said Asaf Mwebaze
