As the Nile Special Rugby Premier League season enters its final stretch, the heat is rising and teams prepare for yet another exciting weekend of fixtures.

With just two games left on the schedule, teams will be looking to make a statement and secure their position on the log.

Kyadondo
The first game of the weekend sees Buffaloes take on Rams. While Buffaloes are currently in fifth place, they still have a chance to break into the top four if they can secure a win against relegation-bound Rams, and one more in their final game of the season next weekend.

However, Rams will be looking to end their season on a high note and leave a lasting impression on their opponents. They will be playing for pride and Buffaloes will need to be wary of Rams’ fighting spirit.

Next up will be Heathens facing seventh placed Mongers. Heathens are currently sitting in third place and they relinquished their race for the title after two disappointing results against Buffaloes and Hippos that saw them denied crucial bonus points. The defending champions will then be looking to fight for a deserved placement on the log with a win against Mongers.

Mongers on the other hand, coming from their impressive second half display against Pirates in the previous game, will want to cause an upset and improve their chances of moving up the table at the end of the season.

Legends
KOBs will face off against Impis in a game that could have huge implications for the title race. Currently tied on points with Pirates at the top of the table, KOBs cannot afford to slip up against the Makerere side if they want to maintain their title winning chances.

However, Impis, who have shown they can be dangerous on their day, will be looking to cause an upset in quest of ending the season on a positive note.

Kings Park
In Bweyogerere, Pirates will take on Walukuba in what promises to be another fascinating encounter.

Pirates, like KOBs, are in the hunt for the title, and a win will keep the pressure on their rivals going into the season’s finale at legends.

Meanwhile, Walukuba still have a chance to improve their position in the table from their current eighth place and going into this encounter, they will make sure to have that at the back of their minds.

Dam waters
Finally, Hippos will take on Rhinos in a game that could have a huge impact on their top four aspirations. Hippos are currently in fourth place, two points ahead of Buffaloes. With position pressure from fifth placed Buffaloes, Hippos will be looking to secure that spot with a win against Rhinos.

Rhinos on the other end, have been on quite a convincing run in the past few games and so still stand a chance to climb up the table if they can secure a victory over the Jinja side.

With so much at stake in these fixtures, this weekend’s rugby action promised to be exciting, yet nerve-racking.

As KOBs and Pirates will be looking to keep their title hopes alive, other teams will be fighting for their “rightful” place on the log.
