As the championship quarterfinals commence and the race to secure a place in the Rugby Premier League kicks off, a total of eight teams will clash, four in Makerere and the other four in Entebbe, vying for a chance to earn promotion to the prestigious top tier league in the 2024 season.

Kicking off the at 2pm at the “Graveyard” in Makerere, the Gulu City Falcons, winners of the Northern Regional League, will go head-to-head against the formidable Njeru Hurricanes from Jinja in the first quarter final tie.

Following this encounter, at 4pm, the Central League champions, Eagles, will lock horns with Lira Big Boys who were runners-up in the Northern VI league. The Eagles have soared high throughout the season, dominating their league, and have to many been considered the favourites for this year’s promotion. Driven by hunger to leave a mark, Lira Big Boys seek to upset Eagles and silence their fan base.

Over in Entebbe, the rugby fervour will be equally palpable as two enticing fixtures unfold.

The first match, scheduled for 2pm, will witness the Eastern region league champions- Elgon Wolves, taking on Mbarara Titans, the runners-up in the Western League. Both teams will be eager to prove their worth and establish their dominance going into the semifinals.

The final match of the day, commencing at 4pm, will showcase a thrilling encounter between the Western League champions, Tooro Lions, and the central-based Warriors.

Having been relegated from the premiership league in the 2022 season, Warriors will be seeking to make a return. However, Tooro Lions will not make it easy for them, as they are a force to be feared, having emerged champions in their league (Western).
