KIU Titans passed Nam Blazers test with a 74-69 win in the National Basketball League game played at YMCA court in Wandegeya.

It’s the seventh straight win for the Titans who have made impressive recovery since falling to City Oilers in the League opener.

Innocent Ochera scored a game high 19 points from the bench on 6-of-16 shooting on the night.

Amisi Saidi Danny, one of the three former Nam Blazers players, had 18 points while Edgar Manaaba (10 points) and Stanley Mugerwa (10 rebounds) contributed immensely.

Starters Peter Cheng (15), Paul Odong (14), Chris Omanye (14), Geofffrey Soro (13) and Michael Makiadi (13) scored in double figures for the Blazers.

But Coach Stephen Escodata Nyeko didn’t get any contribution from the bench in terms of scoring, including Chuol Nyuot who had 12 minutes.

This, is loss number three for the Blazers who earlier led by 11 points at one stage in the game.

They were also beaten by City Oilers and UCU Canons (Overtime) this season.

Nam Blazers got off to a good start to lead 24-16 after the first quarter, but they collapsed in the second in which they managed just 6 points to trail 30-40 at the long break.

The Blazers dug their way back into the contest and took the lead again at the start of the fourth quarter after successive buckets through Omanye’s floater and Odongo’s three, but the Titans quickly responded.

And the Kansanga-based side moved further everytime the Blazers threatened to cut the deficit, and later held onto their lead to clinch a deserved victory.
