KCCA Shrugs Off BUL Threat

Allan Okello scored the all important goal as KCCA picked a hard fought 1-0 win over BUL FC in a game held at Lugogo on Tuesday.

Okello scored from the spot in the 36th minute to ensure that his side picked maximum points.

The win keeps KCCA title hopes alive with two games to go.

They moved to 49 points in the second position, level on Points with leader Vipers and third placed Villa with only goal difference seperating them.

For BUL, the defeat extended their winless streak to 12 games now and more pressure on head coach Simeone Masaba.

It was another spirited performance from KCCA, who were playing without interim coach Jackson Mayanja.

The opening exchanges at Lugogo saw a few limited chances from both sides as they tried to settle into the game.

But as time went on, KCCA started gaining momentum as they started opening up.

They dorminated for the best part of the game and they came close through Denis Iguma and Allan Okello.

But despite all their attempts, they had to wait till the 36th minute to break the deadlock, after Okello was brought down in the area to get a penalty.

And Okello stepped up to score, a goal that made the difference at half time and later turned out winner.

But after the restart, the visitors, BUL staged a better performance as they searched for a come back.

And they made various attempts through youngster Reagan Kalyowa, who was a threat to the KCCA backline.

KCCA FC goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan was called into action on various occasions, but the custodian stood firm on all the attempts.

And KCCA, despite being on the receiving end stood firm to pick a needed result.

The result sees KCCA move to 49 points, and are all tied on the same points together with leaders Vipers and SC Villa.

They will visit Busoga United in their next game and will need to the same energy if they are to keep up in the race.

For BUL, their woes continued under Masaba. They dropped to the 9th position with 34 points and will need a come back if they are to finish up in a better position.
