KCCA fluffed a chance to go top of the Uganda Premier League after a goalless draw with Express FC at Luzira Prisons ground.
And consequently, KCCA move second, level on 46 points with leaders Vipers and SC Villa in third.
With teams separated by just goal difference and with three games to go, it promises to be a pulsating ending to the season.
KCCA were the better side for extended stretches, but did not ask enough questions to unlock the Red Eagles defence.
They hit the woodwork from Moses Waiswa’s freekick, substitute Brian Aheebwa had his header saved by Express goalkeeper Abdul Kimera while Rogers Mato rattled the side-net in the first half with a goal at his mercy.
Express on the other hand, had their best chance fall to Allan Kayiwa but the captain was denied goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan in a one-on-one situation.
Express earlier had a genuine penalty appeal turned down by referee Asadu Semeere when Peter Magambo hurtled into Striker Anwar Ntege.
But a 0-0 scoreline was a perfect result for the game at the final whistle.
The result extends Express FC’s winless run to four games since beating Busoga United on April 18.
But coach James Odoch will feel the draw against Express is more like a win, after starting the game with three substitutes including a goalkeeper.
It’s another disturbing result for KCCA who are winless in last three games, with a 2-2 draw against Onduparaka and a 1-0 defeat at Vipers the other results.
Express FC will face Vipers (A), Maroons (H) and Blacks Power (A) in their remaining games.
For KCCA, they have BUL (H), Busoga United (A) and Bright Stars (H), with Coach suspended Coach Jackson Mayanja returning against Busoga United.
