Crested Cranes Learn Long Path To 2024 Paris Olympics

Uganda Women’s National Football team, the Crested Cranes, has learnt her opponents at the forthcoming 2024 CAF Women’s Olympic qualifying tournament.

This, will determine the two teams that will represent Africa at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

The Crested Cranes will face She-Amavubi of Rwanda at the first round.

This was revealed during the draw held on Tuesday in Cairo, Egypt.

Uganda will host the first leg before visiting Kigali for the return leg – The first round dates are between July 10 and July 18 2023.

If the Crested Cranes overcome Rwanda, they will progress to the Second round where they will meet Cameroon who is one of the eight top-ranked nations to have received a bye at the previous round.

And if they overcome Cameroon, the third round has Nigeria who is fancied to get the better of winner between
Ethiopia and Chad.

And success at the third round is just a tie (fourth round) away from the prestigious Olympics.

Its strong to remember that Zambia and Cameroon represented Africa at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Uganda fell at the first hurdle against Ethiopia after a 4-2 aggregate loss in the qualifiers played in 2019.

It’s also strong to note that the Crested Cranes backroom staff positions are all still vacant.

Qualifiers Dates:
*First round: 10–18 July 2023
*Second round: 23–31 October 2023
*Third round: 19–28 February 2024
*Fourth Round: 1–9 April 2024[
