City Oilers beat Kampala Rockets to finish the First round of the National Basketball League unbeaten.

The Oilers won 94-68 in Sunday’s last game at YMCA Court in Wandegeya, Kampala.

Playing for the first time locally since return from Basketball Africa League, the Oilers once again proved a dominant force against a newcomer.

But the Rockets had made a good account of themselves for the first two quarters of the game, and trailed by just nine points at halftime (43-34).

But the Oilers showed their’ quality in the third quarter which they won 31-18 to open a 22-point gap.

And it was just another routine show in the fourth quarter for Oilers who eventually sealed a deserved 94-68 victory.

Five Oilers players scored in double figures, including the trio of Jimmy Enabu, Luak Ruai and Ivan Muhwezi who had 14 each.

Caesar Kizito and Titus Lual had 13 and 12 points respectively for the Oilers.

Gideon Kasasa weighed in with a game high 23 points and completed his double double after grabbing 10 rebounds for the Rockets.

But just like Emmanuel Okumu (formerly at Oilers) who had 17 points, all their effort proved in vain.

In a rather calm game, Oilers went on the line just twice, with both free throws missed!

It will take some beating to beating stop Oilers this season who have already threatened to finish the whole regular season unbeaten.

And to add that they won easily on Sunday without Michael Ngut, James Okello not to mention Henry Mulira, says a lot about their quality roster.

For the Rockets, they finish the first round with three wins and eight losses.

The First round will end on Wednesday with two games – JKL Lady Dolphins play Nabisunsa in Women category while Nam Blazers and Our Saviour face odd in Men division.
