Baby Cricket Cranes Win Second Match In India

U-19 Boys Tour To India:

Wednesday, March 17

Sai Cricket Academy – 90 all out
Uganda – 92/2
*Uganda U-19 won by 8 wickets

The national U19 boys cricket team, the Baby Cricket Cranes, needed just 11 Overs to hunt down SAI Cricket Academy’s score of 90 in their second 50 Overs game in the tour of India as they beat the side by eight wickets at the Sanjay Farm on Wednesday.

The Baby Cricket Cranes began their tour with a convincing win against Paramveer Cricket Academy on Tuesday, and they followed it up with another remarkable display.

Once again, it was Joseph Baguma who bossed the field as Uganda bowled out their opponents in the 31st Over. With an economy of 3 from 9 Overs, Baguma claimed six wickets including openers Aditya Manishkumar Saidva and Tirthraj Gadhavi.

The 17-year-old did not have to bat as Uganda easily tracked down the score with their top order batters, but like on Tuesday, his display with the ball was one that won him the Player of the Match accolade.

Ali Balidawa was a mean one too with the ball as he dispatched three wickets. With SAI going all out with only 90 runs, it was an easy hunt for the batters who ensured only 11 Overs be utilized.

Openers Ronald Omara and Gerald Olipa took the limelight in that vein. Omara totaled 23 runs, but it was his opening partner who had the most – an unbeaten 50.

Speaking after the game, the team’s assistant coach Robinson Turinawe insisted the boys outdid themselves.

“Today’s game was a better version of yesterday’s, I think it was much better than what we expected from the boys, but we are asking them to put in more.”

Head coach Emmanuel Isaneez made a few changes to the team that played against Paramveer yesterday. Jonathan Nyiiro, Christopher Kidega, Anas Baig and Yunus Sowobi made way for Peter Ocen, Tandia Abdul Aziz, Anas Mirza and Musa Majid Ramathan.

The purpose of this tour is to fine-tune the team ahead of the ICC U19 World Cup Regional Qualifiers set to happen in Tanzania come July.
