The national U19 boys cricket team, the Baby Cricket Cranes suffered their first loss of their fourteen-day tour of India after losing by nine wickets to Paramveer Cricket Academy on Friday.
The Baby Cricket Cranes started their tour of the Asian nation in stellar fashion, convincingly beating both Paramveer and SAI Cricket Academy, but they were unable to take a leaf out of those performances as they fell prey to the hosts in their third game.
Emmanuel Isaneez’s team batted first today! Jaffer Ochaya was given his first game of this tour and he opened with Ronald Omara, but the pair only managed a combined two runs.
It was Anas Mirza (31), team captain Fahad Mutagana (18) and Conrad Lubwama (12) who pushed Uganda’s total to 90, but it was a total that proved too easy for the opponents to chase. Only Ochaya picked a wicket for Uganda.
Head coach Isaneez attributed the loss to the ‘sticky wicket’.
“We failed to cope up with the situation on the pitch because the wicket was sticky, the boys failed to adapt,” Isaneez said after the game.
“It was challenging for them it being the first time on the trip for them to bat first. The first two games, we were chasing so it was easy for them.”
Isaneez made changes to his team that beat SAI on Wednesday. Joseph Baguma who’s been exceptional in this tour was dropped alongside Pius Oloka, Gerald Olipa and Musa Majid Ramathan.
The team will return with another 50 Over game tomorrow as the preparations for the ICC U19 Boys World Cup Regional Qualifiers continue.
