Absa Bank Improves Sponsorship For Captain’s Bell Tourney

Leading bank in the Country, Absa Bank Uganda, has unveiled a Sponsorship package of Sh133m towards this year’s Uganda Golf Club Captain’s Bell Tournament.

The amount is an increment from the Sh57m that was unveiled last year.

Out of this amount, Sh40m will go towards the club and the rest towards the event and professional prize money.

Absa Bank Uganda’s Managing Director, Mumba Kalifungwa, said: “This sponsorship is another opportunity for us to demonstrate our commitment to the game of golf in Uganda.”

“All the years we have continued to support the game and add value to golf which has seen it evolve, grow and become better and stronger.”

“To the leadership of Uganda Golf Club, we appreciate you to for giving us this opportunity to be part of this great tradition.”

This is another commitment by Absa Bank to the game of golf, having earlier sponsored Ronald Rugumayo and 10 other golfers to the Magical Kenya Open.

“We would like to the team Abasa for always coming through. Their presence is significant,” said Paul Rukundo, UGC Competitions Secretary.

“We expect to be a successful event as it was last year where we had a record turn up.”

Rukundo said that a couple of Professionals will take part, with their kitty remaining at Sh10m which was won by Deo Akope last year.

This tournament normally initiates the new leadership at Uganda Golf Club in Kitante.

The 2023/24 committee is led by Captain Emmanuel Wamala and his Vice-Captain Paul Fitzgerald Nuwagaba who
have been re-elected to lead the committee.

The 2023 edition of the Captain’s Bell tournament is slated for Saturday 20 May at the Uganda Golf Club in Kitante.
