Startimes Uganda Premier League: Vipers SC held by URA FC

Vipers SC 1-1 URA FC – St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Vipers SC played out a 1-1 draw with URA on Saturday 22nd at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende in Uganda Premier League.

As the game was played under Floodlights, the home team came with vibes as they opted for maximum points which was not the case.

Patrick Paul Mbowa opened the score for the tax collectors with a screamer in the 13th minute.

Vipers equalised matters through Karim Ndugwa in the 30th minute and so did both teams finish first half with a point.

In the second half, both teams had chances to make a difference but failed to convert.

URA who started a better side in the opening minutes of second half had a chance only Joshua Lubwama’s freekick going inches wide.

The Hosts also had a good chance to grab in the winner in the 74th minute but Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye’s shoot got wide.

URA remain the only Ugandan team to have a good head to head record than Vipers.

In the last 37 meetings, Vipers have only won 8 times, drawn 13 and lost 16 to URA.

The results means Vipers remained 3rd with 36 points from 19 games, only 7 points below the table leaders SC Villa though still have 3 games in hand.

On the other side, URA FC remained 4th with 34 points from 23 games.

Vipers will next get in action in Uganda Premier League on Tuesday 25th as they will be visiting Arua hills.

URA will resume playing in Uganda Premier League on Saturday 29th April, they will be hosting Maroons.
