The Kyadondo derby between Heathens and the Buffaloes saw the former emerge victorious with a 75 minute penalty try, winning the game 20-19.

Heathens drew first blood with a penalty kick, but the buffaloes responded with a drop goal from Liam Walker bringing the score to 3-3.

A successful penalty would then award Buffaloes the lead but Heathens immediately answered back with a try by Innocent Gwokto to bring the score to 8-6.

Willard Mungati put Buffaloes back ahead with a converted try in the 35th minute but again, Heathens were quick to respond as Claud Otema levelled the score at 13-13 going into the half time break.

The second half saw Buffaloes start from where they had stopped, Liam Walker with yet another drop goal, giving his side an advantage.

Daniel Kateregga slotted in a penalty for Buffaloes to extend their lead to 12-19 and by every passing minute, it looked enough to seal the deal for them.

However, Buffaloes Jimmy Katumba was judged guilty of collapsing the scrum pushing towards the chalk and in a dramatic twist, the Heathens were awarded a penalty try with a few minutes left to play, giving them the lead and ultimately the victory.

The Buffaloes had a few chances to respond with a penalty but it was kicked wide by their skipper Wilfred Sseguya.

For Heathens, the result cost them a bonus point and kept the title race wide open and with their next fixture against Pirates, who are now just a point at the back, Heathens will hope to widen the gap and keep themselves safe at top spot.
