Onduparaka FC boosted their survival chances following their 2-0 win over BUL FC in a Uganda premier League game held at greenlight stadium on Tuesday.

A brace from John Rogers Okumu ensured that the Caterpillars picked a deserved win on the day.

The win, third for Onduparaka this season saw them move to 13 points but are still rock bottom.

For BUL FC, it was a bad in office for them playing away from home. It was also Simeon Masaba’s second league defeat ever since replacing Alex Isabirye at the club.

At half time, Okumu’s 37th minute strike was the difference between both sides heading into the break.

But at the restart, BUL FC came back a more rejuvenated side as they searched for a leveller.

Head coach Masaba made some changes introducing in Samuel Ssekamatte in a bid to boost his attacking line.

And Ssekamatte, off the bench twice came closer as they searched for an equaliser.

But in the run of play, it was the hosts that scored again in the 53rd minute through Okumu, who headed in home off Rashid Okocha’s perfect delivery.

In the closing stages, BUL tried to stage a come back but were denied on various occasions.

And in the end, Onduparaka held on to pick a needed win at home.

Onduparaka now move to 13 points but still at the bottom and will be seeking to do the same in the upcoming fixtures as they fight to get out the danger zone.

For BUL, it was another poor outing for them in their quest to close the gap at the top. They are now ten points below leaders Villa, who edged Bright Stars on Tuesday to extend their leadership at the top.
