Netball World Cup: She Cranes head coach Fred Mugerwa confirms 30 player provisional squad

Fred Mugerwa who is in charge of She Cranes have summoned his 30 player provisional squad to prepare for the upcoming Netball World Cup.

Fred Mugerwa has summoned 27 local based players with only 3 playing for foreign teams.

Uganda who had a setback in FUFA rankings to 8th place was pooled in group D alongside New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago and Singapore.

New Zealand are world number 2, Trinidad and Tobago are 11th while Singapore are 27th in the FIFA rankings.

New Zealand and Trinidad and Tobago are familiar opponents to She Cranes having met at the 2022 Commonwealth games in Birmingham, United kingdom.

The 2023 Netball World Cup will take place in Capetown, South Africa.

The tournament will start on 28th July and end on 6th August 2023.

South Africa, the hosts were pooled in group C alongside Jamaica, Wales and Sri Lanka.

Other groups include Countries like

Group A:
Zimbabwe, Fiji, Australia and Tonga.

Group B:
Scotland, England, Malawi and Barbados.

The 30 player squad will start non – residential training on April 17th at Kamwokya Community sports center.
