Ndejje University’s late surge came short to lose 63-66 against JKL Dolphins in the National Basketball League.

The University side struggled to get out of their blocks and trailed 12-22 after the first quarter.

Down by 19 points going into the fourth, Ndejje mounted a strong challenge and almost forced overtime.

But Jonathan Oketch, who had scored five threes in the game, missed a crucial three-point jumper with the last play of the game, and JKL survived a scare.

Ndejje’s recovery was built on a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter, but the Dolphins held on to clinch their third win of the season.

The defeat is the fourth in a row for Ndejje University Angels for a side that has won only two games this season.

Denis Tom Omara once again carried JKL to the finish line with a game high 22 points and 8 rebounds.

Jude Ochen, playing his first game this season, had 13 points while Bienfait Lola contributed 9 points and 8 assists.

For Ndejje, Oketch (15), Haron Arinaitwe (11) and Joseph Kumbai (12)
scored in double digits, with the latter adding 17 rebounds to complete a double double for the Ndejje side.

In the Women’s game, Brenda Ekone scored a game high 20 points in JKL Lady Dolphins’ 96-42 win over Angels.

Elizabeth Akol (11) was the only Angels’ player to score in double digits.
