•URA 2-1 Wakiso Giants

Maroons FC scored at the death to deny Vipers maximum points in a 2-2 draw at Luzira.

Frederick Kigozi scored in added time to ensure that his side picked a hard fought point at home.

Milton Karisa had earlier restored the advantage for his side, adding on his first goal after Fred Amaku had equalised before the break.

It was a poor ending for Vipers, who were on the course for picking maximum points away from home and their first league game under coach Alex Isabirye.

The draw leaves Vipers fourth on the log with 29 points, 11 below leaders SC Villa who have played four games more.

For Maroons, it was a vital point against another title contender in Vipers. They now moved to the sixth position with 27 points after 20 games.

Vipers earned a dream start when Karisa put them ahead in the 10th minute after a neat pass from Bright Anukani.

But the hosts levelled matters nine minutes later through Amaku who was at the end of a back-heeled pass from Abraham Tusubira.

The Venoms, despite conceding had chances to take the lead again but Karim Ndugwa was denied before Martin Kizza’s shot was kept out by Maroons goalkeeper Emmanuel Akol.

In the second stanza, it was all about Vipers as they searched for another goal.

Defender Rogers Torach saw his header kept out after a perfect delivery from Kizza.

Finally, Vipers’ endless attacks paid off in the 70th minute, Kariisa doubling his side’s with an acrobatic kick that beat Maroons goalkeeper Akol.

In added time, Darius Ojok received a short corner before rounding off Ashraf Mandela to deliver a low cross which was directed into the net by Kigozi.

The goal spurred wild celebrations from the hosts and it was little too late for Vipers to find a winner.

The result is a big blow for Vipers on their return to the league after their continental showpiece.

And Alex Isabirye, who was in charge of his first league game, will have to wait for another day to get his first league victory.

For the Prison Warders, they will feel proud for picking up a vital point against the Venoms.
