Maroons Receive Sh200m Boost

Uganda Premier League side Maroons FC unveiled a sponsorship deal with Ngetta Tropical Holdings under their Cooking Oil brand Virgin Gold.

The Club, on Wednesday, banked Sh200m from Virgin Gold who will are the new Shirt Sponsor.

Virgin Gold who have signed a three-year deal, returns to the Club since 2018.

“We believe strongly in the efforts made at Uganda Prisons to stir this club forward,” started Ngetta board chairman Paul Erongot.

“We are excited to be associated with you and as a local company based in Lira, we produce the best Cooking Oil in the country and we have been supported broadly by the people of Uganda and we are making an initiative of BUBU, We are also happy to give back to the Local Club.

“As Ngetta, we have over the years vigorously used Sport for positive impact and social actions notably by sponsoring Maroons FC, we are proud of this team. The growth of this team is a testament to the argument of nurturing an institution through sponsorship.

“Just like Maroons, We vastly employ the youths, we also nurture a set of values like discipline, endurance, patience, team work and the rest.”

“We both provide livelihood to the young people. Together let’s shape our community with these commonly shared values.”

Erongot asked Maroons to put every penny to good use so as the Club prospers and return to glory days.

Maroons, formed 58 years ago, won the two opening seasons of the Uganda Premier League in 1Premier Fb 1969.

“Uganda Prisons services stands tall as one of the Sports hubs in the country and continually uses Sports as a deliberate tool for social rehabilitation of the people we keep and an avenue for professional development of Sports Men, promotion of healthy living, team work and discipline,” said Maroons Patron Dr Johnson Byabashaija who also doubles as the Commissioner General of Prisons.

“We shall continue to build and enhance positive relations within and outside the service while at the same time adhering to the directives from the President to domicile talented sportsmen in the Country.

“And with this big Sponsorship from Ngetta, we hope to reach our goals.

“It’s therefore within our mandate at Uganda Prisons to promote Sports as a service to enhance our corporation, collaborations and our partnerships with institutions at all levels.”

Byabashaija said that tbe sponsorship was not an accident, but a ‘step in the right direction’ and it will not be the last one.

The Prison Warders are 11th on the league table with 27 points and host UPDF FC on Match-day 24
