KIU Titans Out to Switch off Power

Friday, April 28
•JT Lady Jaguars Vs KCCA Leopards, 7pm
•Dmark Power Vs KIU Titans, 9pm

KIU Titans will be hoping to extend Power’s losing streak when the two sides meet in the National Basketball League on Friday at YMCA court in Wandegeya.

The Titans lost their league opener against City Oilers but have since recovered to win five in a row.

Their resurgence started with a 74-54 win over newcomers Rezlife Saints before beating Our Saviour, Ndejje Angels, UPDF and Kampala Rockets.

It has been the opposite at the other side though for Power whose two wins against Rezlife and Ndejje, are the only ones to show in seven games.

They lost to City Oilers in between those two wins before four successive losses against Nam Blazers, UPDF, Kampala Rockets and UCU Canons followed.

Unlike last season, Power’s issues were financial but that may not be the case under new coach Timothy Odeke after the acquisition of D-mark who returned as the sponsor.

The quality of their roster is lacking, but proponents can argue that it’s still a new side and chemistry will be achieved as the season progress.

But outside Guellord Mobanza who is averaging 13.7 points, the rest of the players have struggled to contribute points on board.

The other starters Samad Imran, Elvis Sentongo, Isaac Afidra and Stephen Otoa must pull up their socks against a well-oiled Titans.

Amisi Saidi (17), Peter Obleng (13) and Stanley Mugerwa (10) are averaging double digits in scoring, the latter having played fewer games for the Titans.

And their Back court of Innocent Ochera and Joel Lukoji has been brilliant for extended stretches.

These two sides split their games in the regular season before KIU swept Power (2-0) in the best of three quarterfinals during the playoffs.

In the other game, it’s a clash of giants as JT Lady Jaguars and KCCA Leopards face off with both sides having dropped one game this season.
