Collins Kimbowa Wants To Be The Best Prop in the Country

In the monthly FortebetReal Stars Sports Awards event aimed at recognizing the astounding sports personalities of the month in the various local sports disciplines, Kobs player Collins Kimbowa beat teammate Pius Ogena, and Buffaloes’ Eric Tolit to come off as the rugby player of the month of March.

He plays at prop position and throughout the compact fixture schedule in March, Collins Kimbowa played a pivotal role in Kobs’ ability to outperform their opponents during scrummages.

Kimbowa says March was a good month for him and it brought out the best in him, he feels winning the accolade is a boost and encouragement to himself and considers it part of the big dream he is chasing.

“The dream of every sportsman is to be decorated, and to be a champion” he stated.

Kimbowa attributes his win to his teammates and friends who have won related accolades in the past. Seeing them win pushed him to be better so he could attain the same status because in his perspective, it feels great when everyone on the team is winning.

His goal is to be the best prop in the country.

“I want to be the best scrummer, the best in Uganda and the best in my time”, and he looks forward to putting in the needed effort to see himself attain his goal and help his team move forward.

About the season

In his view, Kobs’ season has been magnificent, they have won 11 of the 13 league games and averaging 40 score points per game. Their performance saw them sit top of the log for nearly seven game weeks before dropping second after their loss to Heathens.

“We failed to score” he stated when asked about their loss away to Heathens at Kyadondo.

Kobs failed to cross the white wash for the first time this season, scoring their lowest points all of which were earned off the tee.

Kobs’ contest for league title

In relation to whether Kobs still stand a chance at winning the league title, Kimbowa believes they still stand a chance at being league champions.

“The league is still open, our chances are still alive, we have to play our part and win the remaining games and wait for what comes on the final day”, he said.

Kobs now rest second behind table leaders Heathens, and have at least one deciding match against Pirates, to determine whether they stay in the contest for the title or not.
