With impressive statistics, the Uganda rugby sevens team has made a statement in the ongoing world rugby challenger series in Stellenbosch, South Africa, advancing to the quarterfinals with an impressive performance in the pool fixtures and finishing top of pool C.

Following yesterday’s two victories over Brazil and Jamaica, they sealed their spot in the next round with a convincing 40-0 win over Korea in their last pool game played on 21st April.

Braces from Adrian Kasito and Nobert Okeny, and a try each for Desire Ayera and Alex Aturinda were enough to sum up the African champions’ impeccable performance.

The cranes are, as of now the overall highest points scorers, tallying a total points difference of 94, 54 from day one and 40 on day two, and scoring the most tries (17) to this stage of the competition and emerged from the pool stages with perfect winning record.

In an interview after match day one, captain Micheal Wokorach highlighted that the prize at hand was to win the tournament, and with the team’s performance this far, there is a clear indication of their ambition and determination to go far in the campaign..

In their quarterfinal fixture, they will take on Germany at 4.44pm EAT which is the second placed team in pool A.

The cranes will undoubtedly approach the game with confidence, having won all their group stage games convincingly and they will be looking to continue their impressive form.
