Just like in the first round of the campaign last week, Uganda Sevens made an impressive start to the second round of the 2023 World Rugby Challenger Series, winning both their day one pool games against Brazil and Korea with a score of 31-07 and 26-07 respectively.

As opposed to the eleven tries scored on day one of the first round of the campaign, the team managed to score nine tries on day one of the second round, with five coming in their first match against Brazil and four against Korea.

In his last game as the team captain, Michael Wokorach was instrumental in the second game against Korea, scoring two tries that required him to run the length of the pitch.

Adrian Kasito and Aaron Tukei also scored, adding to the team’s tally with a try each and Tukei scoring his first try for the sevens side.

The team’s impressive performance on day one will be put to real test when they meet their sevens rivals- Germany in the final pool fixture.

Having been knocked out from the main cup quarterfinals by Germany in round one, the continental champions will be looking to avenge their defeat.

Germany are currently sitting at the top of the group, levelled on points with Uganda.

The encounter on day two undoubtedly promises to be a crucial one, with both teams fighting to secure the top spot in the group and and have a better ceding in the quarterfinals.

The fixture will be played at 12.10 EAT.
