CAF Champions League: Arab teams dominate the Semis as Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns progress

The Arab teams yet again dominated the semifinals of CAF Champions League with only Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns getting through.

Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa  eliminated Algerian giants CR Belouizdad on aggregate 6-2 following their wins in both legs, they won 4-1 in South Africa and 2-1 in Algeria.

Record champions Al Ahly from Egypt eliminated Raja Casablanca from Morocco on aggregate 2-0 following a 2-0 win in Egypt and a goalless draw in Morocco.

Defending Champions Waydad Casablanca needed a 4-3 penalty score to progress through over Tanzanian giants Simba SC after their 1-1 score on aggregate as both teams managed to win 1-0 in their respective home grounds.

Tunisian giants Esperance eliminated Algerian side JS Kablyie on aggregate 2-1 following their 1-0 win in Tunisia and their 1-1 draw in Algeria.

Mamelodi Sundowns will now face defending Champions Waydad Casablanca in Semifinals.

In the other fixture, Esperance de Tunis will face Al Ahly of Egypt.
