NEC FC will be seeking to keep pressure on Big League leaders Kitara when they take a visit to Lira as they face relagation threatened side Northern Gateway.
The Bugolobi based club picked a comfortable 3-1 win over Kaaro Karungi in their recent league game on a day they looked brilliant throughout.
That win, their 13th in the season saw them move to 44 points in the third position and are three below leaders Kitara.
And on Thursday, there will be no room for error against Northern Gateway as they seek to close the gap at the top.
In Northern Gateway, they face a side that has struggled throughout the season as they sit rock bottom on the log.
They will be seeking to capitalise on that poor run of their Thursday’s opponents to get the job done away from home.
And another big factor is that the top challengers Kitara and Mbarara City will be facing each other on the same day at Kigaaya play grounds and a win for NEC will see them move to a better position on the log.
On the other hand, the hosts, Northern Gateway will be embarking on their journey to save their season as they welcome NEC FC.
It has been a poor season for the Lira based side who have only managed four wins in 24 games and are currently rock bottom with just 18 points.
They come into Thursday’s game having suffered a 7-1 defeat to Lugazi in their previous game last week in Lugazi.
And now, they must play each game like a final starting with Thursday’s tricky tie against NEC FC.
But in NEC, they host a side that has bigger ambitions in promotional places and a big test awaits them in front of their home fans.
