Big League: Kitara Held By Luweero United

Thursday, April 27
Luweero United 1-1 Kitara FC
Jinja North United 0-0 NEC
Soroti City 0-1 Mbarara City
Lugazi FC 1-1 Kyetume
Booma FC 3-0 Kataka
Adjumani TC 2-2 Ndejje University

Big League leaders Kitara FC were held to a one-all draw by relegation threatened Luweero United at the Luweero Ground.

Kitara needed Paul Mucureezi’s equaliser to cancel out Musa Mugerwa’s early opener.

After Mbarara City’s 1-0 victory over Soroti City, Kitara FC lead at the summit remains at one point with three games to the end of the season.

The good news for the Royals is that NEC was also held at Jinja North United and drop to third.

The Royals will face Soroti City at home, Adjumani Town Council away and they will wrap up the season at Kigaaya playground against Kaaro Karungi.

For Luweero United it’s a big point in their quest to avoid relegation but they still have more work to do.

They couldn’t hold on to their early lead in the third minute after Mugerwa’s low shot fired them infront.

However, their lead lasted only five minutes after Mucureezi restored parity with a sleek shot in the 8th minute.

It looked to be a scoring game but both sides barely created any significant chances to add to their tally from there on.

At the final whistle, goals that came in under 10 minutes couldn’t create the difference as both sides shared Spoils.

Kitara FC stay top of the log with 52 points after 27 matches while Luweero United are 13th with 29 points.

What Next

They will both return to action on Thursday 4th May as Luweero United will take on Kyetume at Nakisunga Ssaza ground while Kitara FC will host Soroti City at Kigaaya playground.
