Allan Kayiwa was the saviour as his side Express FC picked a hard fought 1- all draw against Bright Stars in a league game held at Kavumba on Tuesday.

Kayiwa scored in the 55th minute from the spot to ensure that his side picked a vital point on the road.

Ibrahim Kasinde had earlier put the hosts ahead at half time before his side dropped points.

The draw leaves Express in the 9th position with 29 points after 22 games in the season.

For Bright Stars, they dropped to the 11th position with now 28 points after 22 games.

Playing at home in Kavumba, it was the hosts that showed early intent to score first.

And they finally took a deserved lead in the 18th minute through Kasinde, a goal that made the difference at halftime.

But before the break, Bright Stars had more chances to score more but were wasteful.

Their forward Nelson Ssenkatuuka saw his effort kept out for a corner while goalscorer Kasinde and Loki Emmanuel all came close.

After recess, Express came back a more rejuvenated side as they searched for an equaliser.

Their endless efforts paid off in the 55th minute when they were awarded a penalty after Enock Ssebagala was brought down in the area by Gideon Etou.

And Kayiwa stepped up to put the ball into the back of the net. His goal was his 10th in the season and is the current leading top scorer so far.

For the remaining part of the second half, it was all for Bright Stars but they failed to find a breakthrough.

The result saw Express move to 29 points in the ninth position as they seek to finish in a better position this season.

For Bright Stars, it was a huge blow as they were denied a second consecutive win on the bounce.
