MotorRally: Jacob Oulanyah memorial Autocross launched

The Federation of Motorsport clubs in Uganda (FMU) in conjunction with  Enduro Uganda club have partnered with the Uganda Bikers Association to organise an Autocross Challenge in commemoration of the late Hon. Jacob Oulanyah.

This was announced in a press briefing held at Grand Imperial Hotel in Kampala on Tuesday 14th March and dubbed the J.Oulanyah Memorial Autocross and Enduro Challenge which will take place in Omoro from the 25th to the 26th March.

The former speaker of the parliament of Uganda passed on last year on the 20th March and was laid to rest at his father’s home in Omoro. He was a staunch lover and member of the Uganda Bikers Association spearheading a couple of safety awareness campaigns for the Bikers.

The FMU senator and former president Dusman Okee while addressing the media on the memorial Autocross, he attested the works and role Oulanyah played in helping the federation strengthen their relationship with government.

“We have managed to organise a memorial Autocross in honour of our late brother Jacob Oulanyah who was a huge lover for Biking, we have partnered with Enduro Uganda club and the Uganda Bikers Association.”

“In 2016, we presented our challenges as FMU in the sport of Motorsport and the late Honourable Jacob Oulanyah played a vital role as he helped us convince the government to waive off taxes on our imported cars we use in the game. It’s an honour to celebrate the life of such a huge love of the sport.” Said Dusman Okee

The Uganda Bikers Association president Angela Seemukuutu availed the program which will see off the celebrations as they will depart Kampala on Friday 24th and head to Gulu city where they will hold safety awareness campaigns on their bikes.

They will hold a memorial service before the Autocross at Oulanyah’s home in Omoro and late return to Kampala on Sunday 26th in the evening.

Presiding over the launch was the Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister Hon. Norbert Mao who cracked alot of jokes narrating the story of Jacob Oulanyah on his first 600CC bike he rode from Kampala to Gulu.
