Masaza Cup: Buddu targets third trophy in ‘do or die’ encounter against Busiro

The long awaited Masaza cup 2022 finals are on this Saturday 4th March at Wankulukuku Stadium as holders Buddu face off with Busiro.

Buddu the two time Masaza cup winners they come into the finals as the defending champions having defeated Buwekula 2-0 in the 2021 finals held at St. Mary’s stadium in Kitende.

Buddu head coach Ibrahim Kirya anticipates a huge day ahead of them but he remains hopefully for claiming victory as he vies to help Buddu write history in defending the Masaza cup.

“It is a big game for us but as Buddu, we have had good preparations to see that we end the day Victorious. We respect Busiro who had their own path to reach this stage. We also had our path to storm the final so I expect a very nice game.” said Ibrahim Kirya.

For Busiro, coach Simon Peter Mugerwa is hopefully to help Busiro clinch their first ever Masaza Cup trophy having lost their first final appearance against Bulemeezi in 2019.

“This is a good opportunity and second bite on the cherry. We are going to go all out to see that we win the title.”said coach Simon Peter Mugerwa.

This is a big occasion for Busiro having lost their first final, so we will come on Saturday seeking to make amends,” Mugerwa added.

Buddu who eliminated Bulemeezi in the semifinals will have to bank on the experience of striker Bruno Bunyaga who is playing his last game in Masaza Cup.

Bunyaga has been vital for the past two edition playing for Buddu as he helped them win the 2021 trophy and a brilliant season in 2022 saw him secure a lucrative move to UPL side URA FC.

Busiro managed to eliminate Ssingo in the semifinals to make their second appearance in the final and they will have to bank on Akram Muzanyi who has been vital throughout their campaign from the group stages.

The Masaza cup tickets will be sold at the entrance and also the selling points of Total Kabuusu, Shell Kibuye, Total Nateete, Shell Busega, Shell Kyengera, Total Kajjansi, Pearl Supermarket Entebbe (Supermarket ya Kisawuzi), Total Welcome Masaka, CBS Office – Masaka and S H Family Hardware – Wakiso. at a fee of 20,000 Uganda shillings for Ordinary and 50,000 VIP as the game will be live on BBS TV.
