Infantino re-elected as FIFA President for the next four years

Gianni Infantino has been re-elected as FIFA President for the second term which will run till 2027.

This was confirmed during the 73rd FIFA Congress held in Kigali, Rwanda on Thursday 16th March as Infantine stood unopposed to retain his office.

The 52 year old Swiss lawyer Infantino succeeded Joseph Sepp Blatter in 2016 who had become a disgrace and a virus to the future of  FIFA.

After finishing a disgraced term of Sepp Blatter, in 2019, Infantino was re-elected by the FIFA Congress in Qatar for his first full term.

Infantino revealed how honourable it is to be FIFA President and how effortless he will do to serve FIFA.

“Being FIFA President is an incredible honour, an incredible privilege. It is also a great responsibility and I am truly humbled and touched by your support.” Said Infantino after retaining office.

“l promise you that l will continue serving FIFA, serving football all over the world amongst all 212 member associations of FIFA”.

Infantino further revealed on how FIFA would continue to look at the transfer system and suggestions to improve transparency of transfer fees and salaries.

“We must improve our regulations and the FIFA  statutes. We will continue to evolve our sound governance principles and look at the transfer system, and may be have a discussion to improve transparency of transfer fees and salaries “.

“It might be necessary to introduce a cap. We have to think on how we can do that. We will look at it with all stake holders and see what we can do”.

Infantino replaced Joseph Sepp Blatter in 2016, Blatter became FIFA President in 1998.
