FUFA Women Super League: Kampala Queens defeat UCU to seal first league title

Kampala Queens defeated UCU lady Cardinals 2-0 in the FUFA Women Super league game played at IUIU Kabojja Campus to clinch their first ever league trophy.

Kampala Queens came into the game with just a single point enough to seal the league trophy and they managed to claim maximum points to keep their unbeaten run with four games remaining to end the 2022/2023 season.

In the 22nd minute, UCU defender Bridget Nabisaalu put the ball in her own net as she tried to clear a Margret Kunihira corner hence gifting Kampala Queens an early lead 

The other goal was scored by Shamirah Nalugya in the second half and that sealed the 2-0  victory.

Kampala Queens had more chances to score but Resty Nanziri, Hasifah Nassuna and Margaret Kinihira all failed to convert.

UCU lady Cardinals didn’t put up a well expected battle to the home side as they failed to register any serious shot on target.

Kampala Queens maintained their unbeaten run with 4 games to end the league, the win took them to 40 points.

A dominant Kampala Queens will now have to fight and win all the remaining games so as to write history as the only team to win the Uganda Women top league division unbeaten.

While UCU lady Cardinals remained 4th with 20 points from 14 games.

In other games, Kawempe Muslim moved to 2nd place after their 1-5 win against Rhine SS.

Defending Champions She Corporate managed to bounce back as they defeated Olila High School by a 1-0 score and moved to the 6th place on the log with 17 points.
