FUFA Big league: Kitara defeats Kataka as NEC, Police drop points

The FUFA Big league qualification battle has started taking shape with Kitara FC extending their top of the table lead to a four points gap after a massive victory against Kataka.

Sam Ssimbwa’s side Kitara FC defeated Kataka 2-0 at Kigaya play grounds on Thursday 16th March in the FIFA Big league.

The game looked more on Kataka’s side and Kitara needed for maximum energy for maximum points which was the case.

Second half Substitute Byabachwezi Derrick opened the score for Kitara in the 73rd minute before Striker George Senkaaba doubled in the 75th minute answering Katongole’s through ball.

This was the third consecutive win for Kitara FC all with a clean sheet as Sma Ssimbwa’s boys look set to secure promotion with silverware.

In other results, NEC FC dropped points once again as they suffered a 2-0 loss on the road away against Luweero United with the battle for qualification slots getting tight each match day.

Police FC also needed a late goal to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw away against Ndejje University in a match played at Arena of Visions stadium.

The cops dropped points and they currently sit second with 39 points four below table leader Kitara who are now in a comfortable lead with 43 points with just nine games to play.

NEC FC struggles continue as they succumbed to back to back losses which has seen them sit in the 4th position with 37 points giving Calvary a chance to join in the battle for top three qualification slots with 30 points in the 5th position with a game to play.

Mbarara City are yet to play their game against Calvary which will be played on Wednesday 22nd sit third with 37points.

The relegation battle also remains an intense one as Soroti City who sit 13th with 23 points in the drop zone are just within seven points below 5th placed Calvary.

Luweero moved to 11th place  with 25 points while Kataka dropped to the 14th place with 22 ppints

Adjumani TC FC and Northern Gateway SC all remain in the relegation battle with 21 and 18 points respectively sitting in the drop zone.
