Big League: Battle for top spot as leaders NEC FC visit Mbarara City

The FUFA Big League matchday 19 returns with vast action as the battle for who stays top continues with the big encounter as table leaders NEC FC visit second placed Mbarara City at Kakyeeka stadium.

NEC FC come into this encounter with a comfortable 1-0 win against Ndejje University at home in their last league game which saw them return to the top of the log with 36 points just a point above their opponents Mbarara City who struggled in their 0-0 draw against Lugazi United.

The Bugolobi based side is eager to seek for promotion to the top flight Startimes Uganda Premier league as they target maximum points from Mbarara have had one of their best season on their debut in the FUFA Big league.

They take on an experienced side of Sadiq Ssempigi who have been brilliant playing at home and are yet to lose a single game playing at Kakyeeka stadium.

Ssempigi is hopefully for a positive result as he targets to help Mbarara City return back to the top flight league but he remains curious of the dangers NEC FC can cause.

“They are a good team according to how they are challenging for the top position, but we are going to make sure that we win the game so that we keep our hope of promotion alive.” Said Sadiq Ssempigi.

Mbarara City will bank on their good scoring rate which has seen them become one of the highest scoring team in the Big league with the a total of 30 goals just six behind the highest Kitarat who have netted 36 goals.

They have to deal with a well organized defence of NEC FC which has just conceded 10 goals making them a team with the better defensive record alongside Police FC who have also conceded them same goals.
