Basketball: Stanbic Bank dunks 360M into the National Basketball League

The Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) announced a mega partnership with Stanbic Bank Uganda worth 360m for the next three years.

This was announced at a press briefing on Thursday 16th March at Stanbic Incubator Hub in Kololo through Flexipay as the official payment partners for the National Basketball League.

In a three years period, FUBA will receive 120m per year in the running of the National Basketball League.

Speaking to the press, the Stanbic Bank head of communications Kenneth Atugamba hinted on helping the sport grow as he was left excited after securing the partnership.

“We are excited to be the Official payments partner of the NBL, Our interest is to support the Sport to grow and achieve it’s potential. Basketball is worth a lot of money globally. We want this game to grow in Uganda and get somewhere, and this starts with the corporate sector coming on board.” Said Kenneth Atugamba as quoted by Sportsnation 

“We want young Ugandans to use it as a platform to expose their talent. To the fans, we have made it easy and convenient to pay match tickets with our e-wallet platform – Flexipay.” He added.

With just a few days after being re-elected to serve for another term as the FUBA president, Nasser Sserunjogi was left excited as he tips the partnership to help the NBL yield better results in the next three years.

“There is no better time to have this partnership signed today with Stanbic. They are big brand, and FUBA is a big brand as well so when the two brands come together except to see the best in our league. We are excited and happy and we have belief that this partnership will go a long way in terms of pushing the league,” said Nasser Sserunjogi.

“We are glad to have Stanbic as a sponsor of this popular league for the next three years and we hope that many young Ugandans will use it as an opportunity to showcase their talent and expose themselves to opportunities to play basketball professionally,”  added Nasser Sserunjogi.

“The National League is an opportunity to groom talent that will see Uganda take part in more International competitions, I thank Stanbic Bank for recognizing the importance of this to thousands of young people who will benefit from this extra push,”said Flavia Oketcho.

The National Basketball League will tip off on Sunday 19th March at MTN Indoor Arena in Lugogo with Magic Stormers taking on Miracle Eaglets in the breakfast meeting.
