The Uganda Premier league defending champions Vipers SC will face a daunting task as they host Wakiso Giants in the Wakiso derby at their home St. Mary’s stadium Kitende.

Fresh from earning their first point in the CAF champions League, Vipers under Brazilian-Spanish head coach Beto Bianchi still have a long way to go as their struggles continue pilling and they remain yet to register a single win in their last five previous games in all competitions and yet to score a goal.

Vipers captain Milton Kariisa is aware of what level of competence they face against Wakiso Giants as they are still struggling with balancing their game of play through defence to attack which has seen them endure a goal drought in the last five games.

Vipers captain Milton Kariisa

“It is a very important match because we come off two weeks with two very demanding games with no goals scored, It will be a difficult game, against opponents who always perform at a very high level as they showed it in the first round.” said Kariisa.

He remains positive of collecting maximum points against Wakiso Giants in order to keep the pace with table leaders KCCA FC who they trail by a five point gap despite playing a game less.

“It will be very demanding, but we are aware that Wakiso Giants’ game is very important for us continuing in the upper part of the League table.”

“We are prepared to face it, knowing that we have to start the game well because Wakiso Giants are good distributers of the ball and we must be very focused before Saturday’s game against Tanzania’s Simba SC (in the Champions League).”

Wakiso Giants managed to play out to a 1-1 draw against Vipers in their first league meeting at Kabaka Kyabagu Stadium in Wakiso but they are yet to register a single win against the Kitende based side.

The purple sharks lost their first game in the second round of the Uganda Premier league by a 1-0 score against KCCA FC but they come into the Vipers game with a motivating win against Blacks Power in the Uganda cup.

Defender Paul Willa who returns to face his former pay master’s has urged his teammates to follow the instructions from the technical bench if they are to pick a positive result away in Kitende.
