The Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 draws have been held successful at FUFA complex in Mengo as the huge Wakiso derby between Wakiso Giants and Vipers SC takes centre stage in the round of 16.

The round of 16 games will be played between the 11th march and 17th march with the FUFA corporate Social responsibility being launched to start under the theme ‘Make them smile’.

Vipers have this season struggled in the Wakiso derby which they dominated in the past seasons and the round of 16 tie will be yet another chance for the venoms to test the toughness of the purple sharks.

Wakiso Giants played out to a 1-1 draw in their first league meeting as they hosted Vipers at Wakisha stadium and later on wrapped it with a goalless draw in the return leg at St. Mary’s stadium in Kitende.

This time round in the round of 16 draws, Uganda Premier league teams have gained an added advantage after seeing a draw which has favoured them to host the games from home.

The BUL FC and SC Villa game of the round of 32 is to be replayed with winner from that tie taking a long trip to visit UPL side Onduparaka FC at Green light stadium in Arua.

Paidha Black Angeles have yet another chance to try their luck and see if they qualify to the quarter final round as they face Express FC, the West Nile club were reinstated to the Uganda Cup after a successful petition against Kisugu United who had eliminated them on the round of 32.

The FUFA competitions chairperson Hajjati Aisha Nalule has urged the teams on the round of 16 to maintain discipline and follow the competition rules and regulations so as to avoid using unlicensed players.

“We urge the teams to keep discipline as security is paramount, let’s keep the game up as teams are urged to use licenced players,  Kisugu were eliminated and won’t feature in the round of 16 after losing a petition against Paidha Black Angeles for using unlicensed players.”

“Therefore Paidha Black Angeles will take up the chance to play in the round of 16 round.” Said Hajjati Aisha Nalule.

The round of 16 tie will be a single leg match and the winner will qualify to the next round, if the game ends in a draw the match will go straight into penalties.
